BACKGROUND

Level One Studios is a boutique music studio/production facility in Austin, TX run by grammy award winning musician/producer Adrian Quesada.

As a musician he is best known as co-founder of the bands Grupo Fantasma, Brownout and Ocote Soul Sounds. He has also worked with artists such as Prince, Larry Harlow, Thievery Corporation and Daniel Johnston, among others.

As a producer, he recently worked on reinventions of the band Chicago’s hits  “Make Me Smile” and “Saturday in the Park”. The band liked the end result so much they authorized an official release and the latter song has already been licensed for the TV show Breaking Bad. Never one to sit still, he also recently produced a session for alternative folk freak icon Daniel Johnston for an upcoming soundtrack, a unique interpretation of The Rolling Stones’ “Mother’s Little Helper.”

He has produced the soundtrack/score to the award winning (2007 Audience Award winner SXSW Film Fest) documentary Inside the Circle which debuted on MTV in early 2009 and contributed music to various other films and projects, including 2009 documentary The Least of These.

His music has been featured on MTV, HBO, Showtime and many other places he doesn’t know about yet. In print his work has been covered in The Fader, Texas Monthly, The Washington Post, Billboard and more. He has also been featured on NPR, PRI, popular blogs such as Okayplayer.com and Soul Sides and the Austinist.

He was recently one of twenty young artists in the world nominated for the 2010 Rolex Mentor and Artist Protege Initiative where he would have been protege to the legendary Brian Eno for a full year. Quesada lives and works in Austin, TX, continuing to push the boundaries where analog meets digital and retro meets progressive all out of a late 60s/early 70s inspired lab called Level One Studios.
